It's been there since you started selling. Before you even thought of selling as something you could do.
It wants you. Luring you with promises of money and status, playing to your feelings of greed, ego, jealousy, competitiveness, lust, and dishonesty.
The choice is yours.
The Darkness. Or the Light.
Help them. Or help you.
I've been made aware that I simplify the World, but stay with me through this one. Essentially there are two types of sales people:
- Helping another human being make better decisions for their own good;
- Manipulating another human being to make a decision for the sales rep's gain.
What kind of sales professional do you want to be? Here are four steps to finding out. Ask yourself:
- Ask yourself, "Do I find fulfillment in helping others improve?"
- Ask yourself if you keep the customers best interest in mind during your dialogue with them.
- Is long-term customer satisfaction more important to you than achieving short-term sales objectives?
- How honest are you about the fit? Is what you're pitching really the best option in this case?
If your answer to these questions is "Yes", you're on a path to successful deals, happy customers, and life fulfillment. If your answer to any of these questions is "No", "Not sure", or "Maybe" you may want and need to adjust before the darkness takes you. Short term this path might work - long term it's a dead-end street.
May the Force of Sales Be With You!

9 年Completely true. Being in the light side requieres empathy and putign yourself in other's shoes. A coaching approach helps a lot!
