To Sales Call or Not to Sales Call

Hi everybody! I hope this post finds all well, and most importantly, healthy.

Given the current COVID-19 situation and current protocols to prevent the spread of the virus I have a simple question for all business owners, procurement personnel and industry influencers: Should someone interested in promoting a business and services make in-person sales calls at this time? Meaning - If I came to your place of business to promote our services to you would I be welcomed or immediately turned around. Mind you I am masked up, hands sanitized, socially distanced and willing to follow your company's COVID-19 policies to have a few moments of your time, show examples of our work that may generate interest and inform you of our website for more information. I have also called to make an appointment and will only take between 10-15 minutes of your time (unless you are 100% interested then i would spend as much time with you as you require. I am then on your time).

There is only so much that can be achieved by making phone calls and sending informational email. When I made the decision to take on a sales position (leaning on my 30 years in Maritime/Offshore/ Industrial industries) I didn't expect 2 months in the role that the world would be hit with a pandemic. Regardless - Business continues to move forward.

I am genuinely interested in your feed back. THANK YOU in advance for those of you who respond to this post.

If your business requires any type of COVID-19 awareness or social distancing as well as all types of signage solutions please consider Ed Smith's Stencil Works and give me a call. I would be happy to quote all jobs small or large as I love helping people. Thanks again!

Good post, Cid Paul Arceneaux. Not to be parochial, however, is there some way Offshore Marine Service Association could help here? We pride ourselves on the networking and business development opportunities we provide. Obviously, we can't perform that function in the traditional way right now but we still want to help. So if y'all have ideas, shoot them my way.

Cid - Most of my customers have a no visitor policy right now. Some have said they could meet outside of their office if we were to meet for lunch but since the lockdowns got doubled down starting in july they've been reluctant to do even that. Good luck man. The transition into sales was a bit rough for me too. You'll find the groove...
