KEY FEATURES

About our Chateau

This Chateau is a superb, imposing, authentic stone castle dating back to the 13th Century, complete with a porte-cochère, and towers. The chateau may be rented per day, per week, or per month. The chateau may be rented in combination with any or all of the gites. Situated in beautiful rural countryside, within its own 12 hectares, private estate, and one mile from the small town of Lagrauliere. The chateau is in the Corrèze department, Limousin region of south-central France, five hours south of Paris, and 30 minutes from Brive-la-Gaillarde, famous for its large Saturday morning market.

The old stone outbuildings and carriage house adjacent to the chateau have been renovated to a very high standard to offer three complete modern living accommodations, each self-sufficient, with cooking and laundry facilities, refrigerator, freezer, dishwasher, linens, dinnerware, utensils, television and wifi. Gites (on-site holiday cottages) are rented by the week only, from Saturday afternoon to Saturday morning, and can be rented separately or in combination with other gites or with the chateau. Our spectacular private lake sits to the rear of the chateau, easily accessible to gites, as well. Fishing is available for our guests. Our beautiful, private Mediterranean Garden, complete with ancient olive tree and round table, is available for use to guests of the chateau, for dining, cocktails, or relaxation by the lake. Lavender, hydrangea, roses and rhododendron outline the front of the chateau, and acres of manicured lawn and ancient trees and shrubs provide a spectacular parkland for our guests to enjoy. Paths have been created through the woods, and public pathways lead to the small nearby town of Tronc (at one time it housed the workers of the chateau), "Fontaine de Bellefond" the famous spring our chateau was named for, and the small town of Lagrauliere. (an approximately one-mile walk) A small market is held in Lagrauliere every Tuesday morning, complete with a truck selling live trout! The owners, along with a small Yorkshire terrier, Trixie, and a cat named Lie-low, live on the premises. Cooking and cleaning can be arranged if required. The chateau houses a small library, La Bibliothèque Anglaise De La Corrèze, with approximately 2,000 books in the chateau library. Our English-speaking guests need not worry about reading materials during their stay. A train station is located in nearby Uzerche. Our closest airport is in Brive-la-Gaillarde. The closest major international airport is in Toulouse, which is 2 hours and 13 minutes south and has regular daily flights from Heathrow and Gatwick, Paris, Nice and most major European cities.

Accommodation

Chambre Albert

Albert II is a four-roomed suite, situated over the porte-cochere. The bathroom has a footed bathtub and shower, and a hand basin. White marble fireplace, and votive candles surrounding the wainscoted room. Window with a beautiful view of the front park. The bedroom has a king-size bed, which can be converted to two singles. Reading lamps on both sides. Two windows overlooking the grand entrance to the chateau and of the park. This room has a marble fireplace and armoire, a round table, and two upholstered armchairs. The private toilet room has a toilet, as well as a hand basin, and a small window with another beautiful view. This room was named after King Albert II, of Belgium, who slept in the chateau for several months when the Nazis invaded Belgium in the 1940s. (Albert has now stepped down from the throne, where his son has taken his place.) A very delightful suite. Here is a selection of images of the 'Chambre Albert'...

Chambre Baudouin (Family Suite)

Baudouin is our family suite and was named after Albert II's older brother, who was the king of Belgium just prior to Albert. This suite consists of two bedrooms, and unlike the rest of the chateau, is decorated in a more modern, colorful theme. The adult room has a huge, king-sized bed, corner marble fireplace, and a separate shower room and hand basin. Reading lamps, and chest of drawers.

A private hall connects the adults' bedroom to the children's room, with a set of wooden bunk beds, with linens in bright orange, and also one single metal bed. Cribs are also available. The children's room also has a separate room with a hand basin and a shower. The toilet for this suite must be accessed through the hall and is shared with Chambre Candy Stripe.

Chambre de Josephine

The Chambre de Josephine is a charming pink and white bedroom, with toile wallpaper and bedding to match. Comfortable, cozy, extravagant - any woman's dream! This room sleeps three.

It has a king-sized bed, which can be converted into two singles, and a beautiful enclosed single bed, with matching bed linens. A fireplace with an electric fireplace heater. It has a spectacular view of the front park. This suite consists of 3 rooms: the bedroom, a separate private toilet, and a separate room with shower and hand basin. (Chambre de Josephine was named after the Belgian princess, Josephine Charlotte, who fled Belgium, along with her two brothers, to stay at our chateau during World War II).

Chambre Printemps

Chambre Printemps ...a delightful room, decorated in yellow and blue. Sleeps two, with a queen-sized antique bed and matching armoire. A table, two upholstered arm-chairs, and a lovely fireplace. A separate private toilet room, and a separate shower room with two sinks. As always - a beautiful view!

Chambre Tower

The Tower Chambre. Our most popular room, with a lovely "fit for a queen" bed drape and crown, and matching drapes. Black marble fireplace, with electric fireplace heater. Separate circular bathroom with two hand basins, Jacuzzi corner bathtub and marble fireplace are located in the Tower! The room is tastefully decorated in pink and charcoal gray, with beautiful views from the Jacuzzi room. A separate private toilet room is in a mini-tower room, just off to the right of the separate round shower room! An electric towel dryer rack will make your stay luxurious as well as cozy.

The 3 Gites

There are 3 gites at the Chateau: The Lake Gite which sleeps 7 in 3 bedrooms, the Garden Gite which sleeps 8 in 3 bedrooms and the Honeymoon Gite which sleeps 2 in 1 bedroom ...naturally! Our Gites feature modern fully-furnished kitchens, with range, dishwasher, refrigerator, and freezer. Clothes washer and dryer are also furnished in each gite. Television and wifi are available in each gite, as well. Our guests are welcome to use our outdoor facilities, which include tables and chairs, charcoal grills, swings, local walking paths, as well as catch and release fishing in our private lake. Our Gites are available for weekly rentals only, from Saturday at 3pm to Saturday morning, 10am. Bed Linens are normally supplied by the guest but will be furnished for your stay for an additional cost. Guests are responsible for housekeeping, but should you prefer our staff to clean the Gite at the conclusion of your visit, this service is also offered, at an additional cost.

The Gardens at our Chateau

Our Chateau is surrounded by 12 hectares of its own land comprised of varied gardens and woodlands, huge open fields and meadows, a large lake, lawned areas and an ancient arboretum. Our guests and visitors are welcome to enjoy these at their leisure. Private lake with fishing permitted for guests only. Our Boat use with special permission only.

Events

We are now accepting reservations for weddings, birthday parties, seminars or other group events! Please book well in advance of your special event. Our indoor dining room will accommodate 32 seated guests, but we have ample space for 200 to 300 guests outdoors! Tents may be placed on our grounds, with permission as to the precise location.
