Saint Patrick -the 17th March is his -commemorative day

Heritage, Culture and Christianity

The patron Saint of Ireland

He left a lasting legacy

According to the declaration he was kidnapped by raiders at sixteen

Faith his only company

For six years a slave

No mans dream

A working shepherd on Gaelic Ireland

Where he found God

Flee to the coast said the divine

A ship will be waiting for you

It will take you home - you have great work to do

The voice he heeded and succeeded

Back to his prized Emerald Isle

Where he had been missed for a long while

On his return St Patrick became a priest

And continued to spread the word of Christianity

He used the gift of the three-leaved shamrock to explain the Holy Trinity

Father, Son and Holy Spirit

As One

Divinity within all three

Converting many pagans religious views and ways

Whilst driving the druids far away

Legend states

No snakes are in Ireland - even to this day

They were driven into the sea

St Patrick’s staff the hidden key

Allegory

Now he’s laid to rest in DownPatrick

The Ancient city of Down

On his Memorial Day

Parades and celebrations will be underway

A Sea of green will be on display

As the Irish both far and wide

And many more who reside
