Saiia Introduces Heavy Equipment Apprenticeship Program

An organization is only as strong as its people.        

No matter where you turn, you’ll always spot some sort of construction. The construction industry plays a major role in our economy and one that will forever impact all our lives.

Over the years, the industry has seen a growing skilled labor shortage. When the pandemic hit, however, those staggering statistics and growing pains were highlighted and spiraled even further. While it’s inevitable that all industries see influx of people and shortages, the construction industry has seen generations age out and not enough new workers to backfill skilled labor requirements.

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the percentage of construction workers 55 and over has nearly doubled and while an experienced workforce provides many advantages for industries, it’s important that construction companies invest in the next generation. ?It has now become an industry-wide responsibility to ensure that we’re providing a clear future for our next generation, as well as proactively recruiting so that all needs, from the business to the employee, are collectively being met.

We recognize that our success as a company is reflected by how we attract, grow and retain talent. After a year of diligent planning, analysis and developing partnerships, we are thrilled to announce that Saiia is launching an NCCER accredited apprenticeship program and will begin taking applications this month.?We believe that through this program, we will be able to pour into a sustainable, diverse and thriving workforce that focuses solely on quality, safety and productivity.

By extending this on-the-job learning opportunity, we are developing a skilled workforce to better support our clients’ mission critical operations and paving a path for future generations to benefit from rewarding career opportunities within the construction industry.?At the end of the day, our people are our greatest investment and we look forward to the program and all that it offers to our workforce.
