They Said, “Don’t be too ambitious”, but Isn’t Being Well Prepared Much Better?
Growing up in Makassar, Indonesia and currently a final year student majoring in mathematics at one of the best state universities in Makassar, that’s me, Yan! I am surrounded by good friends who always support me. The same goes for my family, I grow and progress well thanks to them. Because of them, I have a high motivation to continue progressing. They not only support whatever I do, but also my career. I have a dream to study abroad, if you know Oxford University, yup in a few years I will be a student there!
As you know, I have an ambition to study abroad, because of that, when I am faced with people with similar thoughts and visions, I can really be an extrovert, even though I can actually be called an ambivert. Talking about ambition, it is not uncommon for people to say that if you have a dream that you want to achieve, don’t be too ambitious because if it doesn’t come true, it will hurt. In my opinion, precisely because there is a dream that you want to achieve, you should prepare as well as possible so that the potential for failure is small. That's what I did to achieve my dream of studying at Oxford University. To be able to study there, being able to speak English is a must. So I tried to learn to improve my English skills from as early as possible.?
I realized that while I was trying to learn English in order to pursue my dream, I had difficulties. One of them was when I tried to speak English, I felt stuck and couldn't communicate with other people fluently. Therefore, I tried to find supporting media to learn English. I found the fondi application, when I tried it, it turned out to be really good for improving my English skills! It turns out, I like fondi! The avatar makes me comfortable using fondi, because I don't need to show my face when I want to talk to other people, it feels like calling via handphone. Likewise with the unlimited mic feature that allows me to freely chat whenever I want.
I usually spend about 30 minutes to 1 hour at fondi. On fondi I most often visit the Plaza and Park. On fondi I talk with anyone, because my principle when talking, I experience progress to become better and also other people feel it.
After almost 3 years of using fondi, I feel fondi plays an important role in improving my English skills. I feel the improvement has occurred very quickly since using fondi. Especially my speaking ability which is much better than before. Previously I felt stuck, could not communicate with other people, and felt shy because the vocabulary I had was only basic. But, after using fondi, I experienced improvement, I became confident to communicate with other people, could establish relationships and relations well, I even have many friends from Japan. Surprisingly, people in my environment were surprised by the development of my English skills. They even started to use fondi to learn English! In the near future I want to test my English skills through the IELTS/TOEFL test.
