Sahem 3.0 Social Innovation Program

In October 2022, we were thrilled to visit the captivating city of AlUla, Saudi Arabia, to deliver the Sahem 3.0 Program for the third time in partnership with the esteemed King Khaled Foundation. This program, a social entrepreneurship bootcamp and hackathon spanning five days, was designed and implemented by our team with the goal of improving social and economic development through youth empowerment in the Kingdom.?

In collaboration with the esteemed Royal Commission for AlUla, we have had the privilege of building a strong and vibrant community of active youth in the magical city of AlUla, with a focus on engaging them in tackling environmental challenges through the lens of the Amani Institute Social Innovation Framework, Human-Centered Design as an approach and Design Thinking as a methodology. We have designed and implemented the outreach and communications model, curriculum modules and toolkit, selection criteria, program and awareness campaign kick-off, up until the bootcamp and hackathon.?

The immersive bootcamp offered the youth a truly unique learning experience, culminating in a hackathon where industry experts served as informal advisors and mentors to the next generation of professionals as they worked to solve social challenges such as date palm tree waste, tech-enabled agriculture, open agricultural burning, and natural waste recycling.

The Demo Day's judging committee evaluating youth's pitches gathered industry agnostics and key experts leading the departments of innovation, agricultural resources, social work organization and activism, education management, and capacity development. As we look back at our memories in AlUla alongside the Royal Commission for AlUla, we are eager to extend on building impactful partnerships to create lasting memories by growing youth's nationalism, social activism, and entrepreneurship spirit in designing sustainable solutions for the near future. We cherish the memories we’ve built in AlUla in collaboration with the Royal Commission for AlUla and look forward to our future and to meet and build impact with great partners along the way.
