Sage Nutrition joins Graze Master Group Network

The Graze Master Group is so pleased to welcome Emily Estes, MS, RDN, LMNT and founder of Sage Nutrition, LLC to our network.?Please read Emily’s story.?It’s clear to see she loves rural people, spaces, and places, and wants to help provide professional healing options that lead to, as she says best, “lives full of living.”

Emily’s Story: Emily Estes grew up loving food and the experiences around it, especially beside her grandmother who was serving others with her catering kitchen, “I developed an appreciation for where our food came from as I grew up on a dairy farm where we also had other livestock, chickens, and crops.”

The connection between food, mind, body, and spirit is all intertwined Estes said about the formative years of her life, “My body allowed me to do many things. I was always an active child on the farm and especially enjoyed athletics.?In the midst of so much goodness, there was also an awareness I came to know about the ways my body was different and that I didn’t seem okay.”

“My struggle with anxiety and depression began in junior high and I eventually learned how to pursue control through my development of an eating disorder,” Estes explained.?“For years, I battled the negative self-worth that overwhelmed me.?Many life circumstances and experiences contributed to how I felt, and I didn’t have the tools or resources I needed to begin my healing journey.”??

Access to appropriate care in the rural area where she was growing up, became the missing link in her journey, “When I got to college, a series of events led me to the help I had so desperately longed for.?I was fortunate enough to pursue recovery by gaining access to professionals well-versed in eating disorders and trauma.”?

Today, her story of vulnerability, courage, and recovery has become her life mission, “My mission is to engage in the prevention, education, and treatment of disordered eating and eating disorders.?I have had the privilege to walk alongside hundreds of individuals in their journey to heal their relationships to food and body.?It is my desire to use my personal and professional journey to educate and empower individuals and professionals in the field.”

Estes adamantly stated that it is absolutely time to take power away from the multi-billion-dollar diet industry and give it back to the individuals seeking to live in the intuitive manner they were designed to experience.?Building stronger community relationships becomes a vital part of this effort, “Rural Nebraska is home and growing up I saw the power of connection through small town Nebraska, whether it was a health crisis, natural disaster, or a family needing a little extra help, you could count on neighbors to gather and serve each other.”

While this is true, Estes noted, “There has been a lack of conversation and vulnerability in talking about mental health struggles that so many are dealing with.?I have witnessed a lack of awareness about how to talk about mental health issues.?There are many resources available (albeit not enough) and I would like to see the stigma around reaching out and utilizing those resources diminish.?We should never be too proud to ask for help.?Our rural community offers some of the strongest individuals I know.?But we are never strong enough to handle all of life’s struggles on our own.”?

That’s why Emily Estes founded Sage Nutrition, “It was because of the lack of resources in my hometown when I was growing up.?Without early intervention for mental health and eating disorder struggles, there is greater potential for these struggles to become bigger and bigger.?Encouraging individuals to seek out help when they are first noticing their struggles is key to successfully treating and preventing further struggles.”?

“My dream has been to better serve rural Nebraska and the surrounding states that lack resources for disordered eating and eating disorders – seeking to help individuals live vulnerably and authentically by getting the help they deserve,” she passionately relayed.?

This is precisely why the Graze Master Group is so excited to share Emily’s story and to help expand her network.?We’re passionate about food, natural resources, farms, ranches and especially the people serving rural in a host of ways.?Emily’s mission of service with Sage Nutrition weaves so well with ours and we hope citizens seeking expertise in this area reach out to Emily and her team.

“Our lives are meant to be full of living,” Estes said with joy.?“If mental health and eating disorder struggles are inhibiting anyone from living a fuller life, they deserve to get help to navigate the journey of healing.”

“This all can be done in a confidential and affordable manner,” Estes reiterated, “Our goal at Sage Nutrition is to help individuals who need it.?We do our best to not create a financial burden on those who are seeking assistance in their healing journey.”

About Emily Estes: Emily loves Nebraska, but also the mountains, “Whether they’re in Colorado, California, or Arizona, you will often find me visiting friends and heading out on an outdoor adventure.?I also recently joined the Seward, Neb. Volunteer Fire/Rescue Department, which has been an awesome way to integrate into a new community.?And, I can’t forget my dog, Miss Adley Mae, we are often on different adventures – traveling, hiking, walking the trails, and visiting friends.?There’s not much her and I don’t do together.”?
