In the News: Media Spotlights
1. China's Vs US: Who’s leading in the GenAI Race? (Story Covered by Asia IP Magazine )
China is a major player in Generative AI (GenAI) research, with a vast number of patents emerging from its research hubs. However, despite this large volume, only a small fraction of these patents has been filed internationally, representing a modest portion of the total. This low percentage challenges the notion of China as a global leader in GenAI.
In contrast, the USA holds a substantial number of GenAI patents, including contributions from both domestic and international applicants. The key difference lies in the global reach of these patents. In the US, a higher percentage of patents are filed internationally, indicating a stronger focus on innovations with global applications. This suggests that US patents have a more significant influence on the international development and adoption of GenAI.
2. GenAI and OpenAI's Unconventional IP Strategy (Story Covered by WIPR - World IP Review )
We're also proud to share that our report has gained recognition from top industry publications. WIPR - World IP Review featured our insights in their analysis of OpenAI’s unconventional IP strategy for ChatGPT. The article delves into OpenAI's use of trade secrets, their attempt to trademark 'GPT,' and offers a detailed look at patents held by key team members across major tech companies like Meta, Google, Microsoft, Tesla and more!
