The training requirements are specified in section 1910.178(l) which requires the following components to certify your operator: theory training, practical training, and a driving test. In order to demonstrate that your training and certification was conducted, you may be required to prove to an OSHA safety officer through documentation. Therefore, the entire process must be thoroughly documented. An OSHA safety officer may even speak directly with your operator to gauge the effectiveness of your training – whether internal or external training is conducted.

OSHA, the?Occupational Safety & Health Administration,?requires all loader/earthmoving (front-end loader, skid steer loader, loader backhoe and excavator) operators to be trained and certified – qualified – as a competent operator prior to permitting your employee(s) to operate the equipment (with an exception during supervised training)

Excavator Operator Certification

This training provides a classroom presentation, written test, hands-on practice and skills testing session. The classroom portion focuses on key information needed for safe operation of an excavator. The hands-on portion provides the opportunity to practice skills in a safe environment under the direct observation and coaching of our professional instructors. Operator skills will be evaluated using industry standards. The training is not make or model specific but covers concepts common to most types of excavators.

This training program focuses on the needs of the “end user”, and upon successful completion, will provide an operator's certificate and a wallet card. A minimum score of 70% is required to pass the theory test. This course is applicable to Canadian standards and regulations.
