Safety Tips While Attending the Florida State Fair

The Florida State Fair is underway and the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office is here to help visitors participate enjoy the festivities and feel safe in the process.

Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister shared the below tips to those attending the event.

Additional Safety Recommendations:

1. Be aware of your surroundings and stay alert.
2. Stay hydrated and wear sunscreen to protect yourself from the sun.
3. Keep an eye on your personal belongings and avoid carrying large amounts of cash.
4. Follow all safety guidelines and rules set by the fair organizers.
5. Use caution when riding amusement park rides and follow all safety instructions provided.
6. Avoid overindulging in alcohol or any other substances.
7. If you are attending with children, keep a close eye on them and establish a meeting point in case you get separated.
8. Know the location of emergency services and contact information in case of an emergency.
9. Stay in well-lit and populated areas, particularly at night.
10. Trust your instincts and if you feel uncomfortable or unsafe, remove yourself from the situation.
