Safety, Sanitation and Food Handling need to be rethought in the midst of this mess.....

Good evening......I would like to request that you allow those of us in the industry to take the NRA Servsafe Managers Course and exam for free. I have been in contact with your offices in Chicago today finding out that the NRA is offering the courses for Food Handlers and Take-Out Delivery.

I am a representative for 5200 female cooks/Chefs who are interested in being able to take the Food Handlers but there are also those of us....myself included, whose Managers Cert will expire the end of April.

Not having an income right now and the uncertainty for myself and pretty much most of the women in the organization I am affiliated with, are interested in being able to take the course and exam while they have the time now.

Given the scope of unemployment in the Food Service Industry, I feel that the NRA would be able to understand the need for our women to get their certs done now. It has become very important to all of them due to this situation that we are all facing now with the COVID-19 pandemic....now more than ever these two certifications are NECESSARY for all food service employees

I am stunned and totally blown away by the lack of certifications necessary to get a job in a kitchen. I personally have worked in kitchens where NONE of line cooks were required to have any type of food handling and safety training or courses. How in this day and age of vast numbers of operations of various types of food providers, owners/management find this acceptable? I being a GM was the only person who was required to have my Servsafe Managers Cert. THAT...is unacceptable.
