Safety do’s and don’ts to keep in mind while deep?clean

Deep clean is an exceptional cleaning which sounds like a long, difficult and overwhelming process. It is attention to details towards nook and corner of the area. Regular deep cleaning avoids potential health hazards and keeps our family safe and healthy.

Choose either Cleaning or Disinfecting

Cleaning is removing dust and grime from surface by removing contaminants and decrease risk of infection. Whereas disinfecting is removal of harmful virus and bacteria. We need to deep clean our surroundings with disinfectant once in two months. While doing so, one should clean the surface with soap and water before disinfecting dirt and grime in the surface can lessen the effectiveness of the disinfectant. Additionally, you should not spray the disinfectant and wipe them right away. It takes a bit of extra time to finish its job so based on the instructions we need to wait.

Reading Labels is a must

Pay close attention to hazard warnings and directions on product labels. Be sure to read the manuals and care instructions. This prevents us from exposing ourself to an unhealthy situation and accidental damages.

Do your Prep work!

Cleaning supplies should not come in contact with our human body. One should wear protective clothing while doing a deep clean. Skin absorbs everything so we need to wear appropriate gloves. Eyes are vulnerable to splashes and fumes so eyes need protection and facemasks prevent from inhalation of fumes and fine mists that affects our nasal passage and lungs.

Follow instructions to prevent Hazards

Never mix a cleaner and disinfectant unless it is mentioned in the labels to do so. Always go for milder products as long as it gets the job done. Natural cleaners also contain ingredients to dissolve grease, remove dirt and disinfect which are potentially dangerous so continue taking normal precautions and follow the manufacturer’s instructions.

Cleaning How to’s

High-touch surfaces like door knobs, light switches and faucets handles tend to collect grime as we touch them many times a day. We need to wipe them with a cloth and all-purpose cleaner and polish it until they look new again.

Dust falls to the floor so it makes sense to start cleaning the ceiling and then work way down. Look for cobwebs in the corners, extendable dusters are best for this job. Ceiling fans and light fixtures require two step cleaning, removal of dust with a damp cloth is the first step ?then usage of all-purpose cleaning spray for the final polish.

Initially, before starting a deep clean, we should clean up the cleaning tools. Otherwise, we will end up spending more time to clean if you don’t clean the tools beforehand.

A Clean Home is a Healthy Home

A dust-free home is a home that keeps allergens, germs and other pollutants at bay. The satisfaction obtained after a deep clean is something which one cannot express in words. A clean house gives better indoor air quality and a whiff of freshness in a wake. Therefore, once in a while your house needs a deep clean. Cleaning and organising is a practice, not a project.
