Safer Pedestrein crossings
The pedestrian crossing has been an issue for years. With the old white lines been a hazard to both the pedestrians and motorcycles plus push bike users. All saying they are a slip hazard .When Feilding high School in the mid north Island Asked their local council to help
Downers Wellington and Rockbind jumped right in .We turned up on winter morning and put this in place by mid afternoon we had all the locals standing on the side of the patch saying what an improvement
The idea of placing coloured aggregate over painted white lines was a winner .The pupils ended up using the crossing instead of walking across the road anywhere they please was the first noticeable improvement .
In the weeks after the area had been completed , The headmaster from the school had watched the patch from his office .What he reported to us was the cars seemed to slow right down when approaching the coloured area .
Last week We got a phone call from the headmaster asking us to come back down and do 2 more crossings .As he said they were the best thing he had been part of for the safety of his pupils
