France - Durability Index for washing machines and televisions
On April 5, 2024, decrees related to the new durability index of the AGEC law were published in France. This index will gradually replace the repairability index that has been in place since 2021. It will be applicable to washing machines and televisions in 2025.
US - Vermont Revises Law on Products Containing PFAS or other Chemicals
On May 30, 2024, the governor of Vermont signed S25 (the Act) into law to amend its law on products containing PFAS and other chemicals. The provisions in the new act will be implemented in phases, starting July 1, 2024.
EU - European Council Approves New Ecodesign Regulation
The European Council has officially approved regulations for a new 'ecodesign' framework, with the objective of setting sustainability criteria for a wide array of products across the EU. In addition, member states have implemented a prohibition on the destruction of unsold textiles and footwear.
Switzerland Revises Two Positive Lists for Food Contact Materials
On June 5, 2024, Switzerland issued Official Collection 2024 250 to amend the nation’s positive list for food contact plastics and food packaging inks. These will become effective on July 1, 2024.
US - CPSC announces the expansion of eFiling Beta Pilot test and requests for additional participants
On June 4, 2024, the CPSC published a notice to announce the expansion of the eFiling beta test pilot to include additional participants. CPSC will allow participation until they reach 2,000 volunteers or until an eFiling requirement becomes permanent, whichever comes first.
