The SAFe Maturity Concept - a way become agile and to be

This is a series from the SAFe maturity concept manual, which is based on living practice examples. This is Part 1; the outlook on the series of topics, which I will publish in the coming weeks.

Project management has evolved from a management philosophy that was limited to a few functional areas. It was considered a nice addition to the enterprise project management system that covered all company's functional units.

Today, more and more companies regard project management as essential for their survival. Companies that used to be project management opponents are today their advocates. The management consultants of the past who preached that project management could not function at all and is only a fashion phenomenon are now convinced proponents. Project management has become a self-understanding for all areas of life.

Just in the same notch are now various agile methods and frameworks like SAFe. Numerous companies are particularly active in agile methods, particularly in the case of very large development projects and programs. The challenge itself is to make the change to the agile company, i.e. adapt agile culture in the existing organization and to form a new organization which will enable the agile teams and give them the opportunity to work even more effectively along the strategic values ??and benefits of the company.

In today's highly distinctive hierarchical corporate world, there is now a fear that the new agile values ??and frameworks turn upside down the power relations/conditions within the company. Again, the slogans that preach, this is also just a hype that must be sit out, reminds us of the introduction of project management methods and their opponents.

However, today's evangelists must face to a very different challenge. They do not have the time that the project management evangelists had in the past to convince their opponents. Today the agilization in a company is an essential component for the company success. Speed ??and focus on real customer and user benefits are important keys for success.

The SAFe maturity concept is a guide that explains how to scale agile methods into a business environment using the SAFe framework. It is directed at those makers and managers who want to get a structured guidance and way to introduce SAFe with all the consequences AND concrete measures in a Company.

While the SAFe Framework will be only a Framework, the SAFe maturity concept is the first introductory concept as a manual, which describes an implementation of 45 Action Points along the SAFe principles and based on a SAFe maturity concept derived from the SAFe reference.

It is intended to serve as a reference implementation model for the design of an agile introduction transformation program based on SAFe Framework.

In several sessions, I will introduce you in interesting approaches that will help you in implementing agile methodology based on SAFe. These includes, amongst others, a prioritization model for your IT requests, an MVP approach (minimum viable product) to focus on the essential function as well as approaches for innovation management and templates for high potential teams and organizations.
