The SAF Group Jan 5, 2025 Energy Tidbits memo should be posted by noon MT on the research section of our SAF Group website [LINK]. (i) Microsoft President describes the major industrial revolution to happen with AI but won’t or can’t publicly say only natural gas and coal can provide the increment new 24/7 power over the next decade for the massive datacenters that make this possible. (ii)? Trump tells UK to get rid of windmills, reminds of his promised Day 1 executive order against offshore windmills. (iii)? Seemed like the most direct admission from Xi on China’s economy challenge as it faces the “pressure of transformation from old growth drivers into new ones”.? ?(iv) Caixin China Manufacturing PMI was 50.5 BUT commentary was negative with export orders contracting after big increase in Nov and business optimism weakening based on China recovery outlook & trade conflict with US. (v) Looks like Chevron increased Venezuela oil imports into Gulf Coast in case Trump returns to 1st term playbook of not allowing Venezuela oil into US. (vi) There are many other items in today’s Energy Tidbits memo. (vii) ?The year went by so quickly, which made it easy to write Energy Tidbits memos every weekend in 2024 given it was a year of so much happening in energy and markets. ?(viii) ?Please follow me on Twitter/X at [LINK] for breaking news that ultimately ends up in the weekly Energy Tidbits memo that typically gets posted by Sunday noon MT.
