Is sadness a bad thing?

What do you think? Is sadness a bad thing? Maybe I'm wrong but sometimes I enjoy a good cry. I know a weird thing to hear from a man. But let's be honest Sadness is part of the human experience and is part of our range of emotions. Without tears laughter would only by a fraction of the fun.
Naturally sadness and tears aren't always an enjoyable experience. Sometimes they are a result of really terrible events in our lives like the loss of a over one, a break up, the loss of personal property or the hurtful remarks or actions of others. I don't think anyone really goes out looking for opportunities to be sad. But how do we really embrace these moments when they arrive or what is the perspective we have when we participate? What are your thoughts? Do you we engage sadness in ways that serve us best? And if not so, how can we?
Everyone experiences sadness. Rather than feeling like we are alone, different, strange, left out or unique - We should remember that sadness actually means we are normal. We are included - because like everyone else we feel it. And we aren't strange after all. The strange person is the one who never feels sad actually...
And do we always remember that after sadness what do we find? Hopefully happiness :)
And another note, as an actor I think that sadness and the ability to feel it and portray it is one of my greatest tools. It creates the dimension and range that makes everything else come alive.
