Saddam Never Dies

Saddam Never Dies

Saddam Jinda Hai...!!!

We '90s kids vividly remember the Gulf Wars. We saw how the USA, under President Bush, portrayed Saddam Hussein as a global threat with weapons of mass destruction, leading to his downfall. We know about the events that took place and the consequences that followed.

Yet, despite all that, Saddam is still very much alive—in spirit, at least. Thanks to the marketing machine of the West and its influence, Saddam is everywhere in India during Diwali. From the sleepy streets of Ratlam to the bustling markets of Dhanbad in Jharkhand, his face is on countless firecracker packages.

Indians are fascinated by Saddam and his legend. Sure, we've got the "Katrina," "Kareena," and "Madhuri" bombs—no surprises there. They've earned their explosive titles by ruling Bollywood for years. But the way people are drawn to Saddam is quite surprising. I've never seen Gaddafi, Hitler, or any other dictator on firecracker wrappers, but Saddam has been a common sight for years.

Saddam has become synonymous with valor, courage, and fire. Whether that's accurate or not, it's a perception fueled by continuous coverage from Western media and their Indian counterparts. Diwali seems to be the time when we remember Saddam Hussein, perhaps unintentionally, but completely.

His legacy might be controversial, but his aura brings a smile to our faces once a year during the festival of lights.

These are just some random Diwali thoughts—maybe it's the side effect of a three-day holiday. What are your thoughts? Share them in the comments!

Wishing you all a fun-filled Diwali! This Diwali brings you (yes, you, reading these lines) more happiness and fun this year. Happy Diwali!
