A Sad outcome of political failure

Anita hails from a village closer to my town. Its a very backward village.Hailing from a poor family,it is a great achievement to score 1176 in board exams.

last year all our leaders were giving confidence to Tamilnadu students ,that they will get NEET exemption for a year for TN students. Well informed people knew that it is just a political game.

Innocent students believed the words and dreamed of becoming a doctor. If only the government had prepared the students to face NEET ,such incidents could have been avoided .

I remember the anxiety i had when i entered medical school.I can realise how bad a poor girl from a small village would have felt when her dreams shattered.

Lets hope our leaders dont play with any more innocent lives

With the kind of population we have and the current environment/ Food we consume with residuals of pesticides fertilizers/ stress level on the job & family we have more patients in the future . Why to control the students aspiring for MBBS by so many exams . Let there be a standard at exams at +2 based on merit let the students get admission. Let this country produce few 100000 doctors more every year. So it helps the society . Because of long years to complete the course + PG the amount of money spent every parent student calculate return on investment. If government doesn't encourage the doctors hospitals it will be a loss to common public

Dear Doctor, The world is the same everywhere. You have done your medical education in Maharashtra you must be knowing how the so-called 'Educational entrepreneurs' are minting money & exploiting the MBBS aspirants. I am very happy to see a successful doctor writing on this socially sensitive issue.

Why a girl secured 1176 out of 1200 could not handle NEET wherein 55% of the questions were from State board syllabus. She was not ill informed either (she had approached the courts against NEET). She was intelligent (?), bold (?), capable of escalating. Then why did she commit suicide? By making here an Hero we are sending wrong message to our youngsers.

The only long term solution is to raise TN education standards which is abysmally poor which could result in poor quality doctors endangering patients life

Dear Dr.Mani, Nice article. Since this girl is from a poor family and Dalit it drew national attention. How many Brahmin students were deprived of MBBS just because of they are Brahmin and forward caste though they had a very good marks.. This is happening year after year. Hundreds of forward caste students should have committed suicide. This is pure political game of cheap politicians to misguide the poor family and student . Hope everyone understand it.
