Sad News: Arms of Love Family Grieve the Death of One of Our Own

Eliezer Isaac Collado’s body was found in the streets of Managua, Nicaragua on Saturday, June 16th, 2018.

Eliezer joined the Arms of Love Nicaragua family in 2002, and lived with us until 2011. Despite challenging circumstances, our staff has remained in contact with Eliezer in many ways, including welcoming him into the home of Ewner Zuniga, our in-country Director. At different times over the last few years, Eliezer stayed with siblings and cousins. Most recently as a young man of 17, Eliezer was living with his grandmother.

Because Arms of Love has cared for many of the Collado family members, we ask you to please pray for all of them. Eliezer is the brother of Scarleth, Vanessa and Hector along with being the cousin of Valeska, Alejandro, Moises, Genesis and Heyling.

There are many difficulties Nicaraguans are facing in this season of extreme civil unrest, and the great number of roadblocks throughout the country are making travel nearly impossible. We have been informed family members were able to travel to Managua and Eliezer’s body was released to them so they were able to hold his funeral on Sunday, June 17th.

Eliezer was shot two times, and information is still being collected to try to determine what exactly transpired. The violence that has come with the civil unrest in the streets has found it's way to our family’s door step. May God help us continue to seek His peace as we kneel to pray for His justice.

As more details are confirmed I plan to continue to update our Arms of Love family through future posts.

 Blessings,

 Dr. Steven D. Bagley
