“Occasional deprivation makes the ordinary extraordinary.”
Human beings stand apart from the animal kingdom, not just through reflection, imagination and our intelligence, but through the power of sacrifice and responsibility. We’ve realized that letting go of immediate gratification for future gains is a game-changing concept and mindset of human evolution and personal development. This understanding is what pushes us forward, transforming the ordinary into the extraordinary, and turning dreams into reality.
Taking on responsibility is a profound act. Through responsibility, we find meaning in life. As Jordan Peterson puts it, human beings are “beasts of burden”—the more we take on, the more meaning we will find in our lives. This is not about burdening oneself with unnecessary stress but about embracing the sacrifices required to achieve what we truly want in life. Embracing the concept of sacrifice leads to a profound transformation for yourself, those around you, and the world.
Sacrifice, Change the World
If you prioritize long-term gains over immediate pleasures, you understand sacrifice.
If you understand sacrifice, you invest time in your personal growth.
If you invest time in your personal growth, you start to see progress in life.
If you start to see progress in life, you build self-confidence.
If you build self-confidence, you allow yourself to be your authentic self.
If you are your authentic self, all the time, with absolute self-confidence, it lays the foundation for a fulfilled and joyful life experience through purpose and progress.
Through sacrifice and personal growth, you get better, life gets better, the people around you get better, leading to an unbelievable ripple effect making the world better.
It all starts with sacrifice.
Jordan Peterson
I've mentioned Peterson many times in my previous articles, he has been a big part of my focused journey of personal development these last 5 years or so. He once said "many say that they already know the things I say, but just didn't know how to say them". Spot on. He has a way of articulating the complex into simple while motivating you to take action. His thoughts and ways of explaining things have deeply resonated with me. When I started to listen to his content, I couldn't get enough. Many times I would listen to the same speech or lecture over and over until it really sunk in. It all just made sense as he would explain it. The below video is one that I've listened to many times... many many times... He's so good.
"The Most Eye Opening 60 Minutes Of Your Life"
Peterson's transformative thoughts around the power of sacrifice and responsibility are eye opening to say the least. If you have not listened to this before, i'm confident it will bring some new perspectives to your life and mindset.
His insights have been a guiding light in my journey, emphasizing the importance of taking on responsibility and the sacrifice necessary in achieving what we truly want in life.

Sacrifice is not just about giving something up, it’s about choosing what you want to achieve and dedicating yourself to that path, fully aware of the costs. It's about giving up short term gains for the long term "amazing" gains.
How to Sacrifice
Embrace the act of sacrifice and take on responsibility as ways to discovering deeper meaning in life. Starting with something as simple as making your bed every morning symbolizes a commitment to order over chaos, a small but profound act that sets the tone for a life lived with intention and purpose. By making conscious daily choices that align with our deepest values and ambitions, we not only transform our own lives but also those around us, and beyond.
Sacrifice and find meaning in life through responsibility.
