Let me ask you something-

I know how crazy that sounds. I wouldn't have believed it either. But then life gave me no choice.


The Wake-Up Call I Couldn't Ignore

Six cancer diagnoses. Chronic pain so relentless I could barely move some days. Years of pushing through, proving my worth and silencing my own body.

And then one night, on the porch of the home I fought so hard to build, I broke. Not just emotionally-physically. I hit a wall my body refused to let me push through.

This is such great stuff Annette! This post took me all the back to when I first started out as a psychologist in private practice—so green, so eager to make a name for myself, to prove I could handle it all??. Back then, I thought resilience was about never breaking. Push through, keep it together, don’t let anyone see the cracks, right? But man, I had it so wrong. Lesson learned :) What I thought was strength was really just survival and it definitely took some hard lessons (and a lot of grace) to realize that the breakdowns—the exhaustion, the signals I kept ignoring—weren’t failures. They were my sacred invitations...and I feel like my work has come full circle :) At 56, I truly do feel that nudge... Thank you for this reminder.
