‘You can’t survive’: Hurricane Laura storm surge will be so large it will reach I-10 highway and kill anyone in its wake

Hurricane experts at the National Hurricane Center warn that Hurricane Laura’s storm surge will likely reach 20 feet high for the southern part of Louisiana. The surge will be so large and move inland so far that it could even reach the I-10 highway that many could be used to escape the storm.
NBC weatherman Al Roker explained Wednesday, “you can’t survive that.”

Tuesday, Houston reported that it was bussing people out of the city, as much as 100 miles north to safer shelters. Louisiana is similarly helping people get out of the Lake Charles area, which will have a direct hit from the storm.

“So, I think they want people to heed these warnings,” Roker told viewers. “Because as you look at this, Nicole, this system, you can see the feeder bands already just to the west of New Orleans, across Lake Charles. The National Hurricane Center is already reporting water starting to pile up along the Texas/Louisiana border. This thing runs with a 400 miles — it’s 175 miles south-southeast of Port Arthur. And 140-mile-per-hour winds. If it makes landfall at this category 4, which we expect it to, sometime late tonight, it will be the strongest hurricane ever to make landfall along the Texas/Louisiana border.”
He went on to call the rain and wind “dangerous” and warned that the landfall would come after midnight when most people would be sleeping. It could be too late to get out at that point, so Roker urged people to get out while they can right now.

One of the president's fiercest and longest-serving advisers, Conway attempted to humanize Trump, arguing that he's surrounded himself with women like herself and regularly provides emotional support to struggling Americans.
"President Trump and Vice President Pence have lifted Americans, provided them with dignity, opportunity and results," Conway said in her pre-recorded remarks. "[Trump] has stood by me, and he will stand up for you."
The White House adviser focused on the administration's efforts to combat the opioid crisis, which she was involved in. Conway claimed that the president had done much to alleviate the crisis, but after a decrease in 2018, fatal drug overdoses rose last year by over 4%.
The coronavirus pandemic has severely exacerbated the crisis — drug overdoses spiked 18% in March, 29% in April, and 42% in May over last year.
"We have a long way to go, but the political inertia that cost lives and the silence and the stigma that prevents people in need fro coming forward is melting away," she said.
Conway's speech comes just days after she announced she'll be leaving White House post this week, citing a need to focus on her family.
"This is completely my choice and my voice," she said in a statement posted to Twitter. "In time, I will announce future plans. For now, and for my beloved children, it will be less drama, more mama."
The 53-year-old veteran GOP operative is perhaps best known for the false statements, spin, and lies she delivered as a surrogate for Trump both on the campaign trail and over the last nearly four years in the White House. Shortly after Trump was sworn into office, Conway infamously coined the term "alternative facts," in reference to then-White House press secretary Sean Spicer's blatantly false claims about the number of people who attended Trump's inauguration.
Conway's husband, conservative attorney George Conway, has become an outspoken anti-Trump activist in recent years and helped found the anti-Trump group the Lincoln Project, which has endorsed Democratic nominee Joe Biden.

Why is this so unacceptable ? The Conway drama, is NO substitute for properly dealing with the ravages of Hurricane LAURA. Spoilers alert. i.e. there was PRACTICALLY NO convention mention of HURRICANE LAURA. Instead it was all worshiping Trump's backside.
Keep in mind what was said 10 hours ago by me in PULSE. This hyper focus on TRUMP as supreme arbitrator of expertise by default is dangerous. And not taking Hurricane Laura into account is that and more, in the worst way possible.
