A Sacred Place

I don't know if you have all been to see the Grand Canyon but if you haven't you need to go. There is a reason it is one of the seven wonders of the world and when you see the majesty of it you will know why. It will literally take you breath away. This week marks the 100th anniversary of the Grand Canyon becoming a National Park. Of course for our people it has been a sacred place for many years before that.
I remember one time awhile back I was working with one of the Tribes in the Canyon and I was invited to go see the the bottom of the canyon where the Colorado River flowed. There was no one where we were and it was amazing. The cultural guide from the Tribe shared some of their creation stories with me and I felt blessed to be there to hear it.
You may not be able to see the Grand Canyon on a regular basis but we should all have a sacred place we go to. When we get overwhelmed at work or we just have a lot going on in life it is good to be able to get away to a place where you can take that inner journey and be at one with nature. This will restore you and help you to recharge your battery. One of our sacred places we go to in our area is La Pushe which is on the coast here in Washington which is in the rain forest and is very special place. We try to get there several times a year. Each time we go we feel revived and ready to face the world when we return.

5 年The bottom of the Grand Canyon is the most beautiful place to visit. The Falls were beautiful crystal blue and the people down there were so nice. I was lucky to go three different times.
