Gustav Bauernfeind - Entrance to the Temple Mount in Jerusalem 94 x 71.5 cm
The Prophet, King Solomon, cared for it until the Messiah, son of Mary, was born among its pillars, and it was the subject of attention until it became a deserted place, so the Prophet of Islam, Muhammad, came and prayed there with the prophets so that the splendour of the place would return to what it was in the era of Solomon the Great, and the Umayyads built in it the greatest mosque of its era, which is the Dome of the Rock, Many events took place on the court of this place that shining with holiness...Gustav quoted a beautiful picture of what he saw of the diversity between religions. He painted the Jewish rabbi, the Christian priest, and the Muslim sheikh, all of them in one place at a door, living together in peace and speaking the same language, neighbours, friends, and perhaps one family...this warm and full feeling of security was felt. Gustav wanted to convey this simple message to us through this beautiful painting, in which part of the great Dome of the Rock Mosque appears in the background
