Sachintha's Story

Sachintha Vithanagama, a talented member of team Seccom, recently shared with us his experience of transitioning from overseas to Australia and how he has found the journey thus far. As a valued asset to our team, we wanted to provide a glimpse into his life and the challenges he has faced.

Originally from Sri Lanka, Sachintha made the decision to move to Australia in pursuit of new opportunities and professional growth. The transition from one country to another, however, can often be quite a challenge, with cultural differences, language barriers, and the adaption to an unfamiliar environment.

For Sachintha, the journey has had its challenges, but he has faced these challenges head-on with determination and perseverance. Moving to a foreign country meant leaving behind family, friends, and everything familiar to him. As you would expect, the initial adjustment period can be quite challenging, acclimatising to a different culture, lifestyle, and work environment.

Language was another obstacle Sachintha had to overcome. While he was proficient in English, adapting to the Australian accent and slang was initially daunting. However, he quickly adapted and immersed himself in the local culture.

Transitioning from an operational-focused role to a project-focused role is always a new experience for anyone, as you adapt to new industry standards, unfamiliar work practices, and the intricacies of diverse customer environments. Nonetheless, Sachintha’s unwavering commitment and enthusiasm for his role enabled him to overcome these challenges with ease, ultimately positioning himself as an indispensable asset to the Seccom team.

Two years ago, I made the decision to leave Sri Lanka and begin a new chapter of my life with Seccom Global in Australia. As with any major life change, this decision came with its share of daunting challenges and apprehensions.
