Ryanair says air traffic controllers are discriminating against its biggest base, London Stansted, with “special treatment” being given to Heathrow. Statistics released by the Civil Aviation Authority show that of the delays attributable to Britain’s air traffic controller provider NATS, 52% happened at Stansted, 30% at Luton, 10% at Gatwick, and 0% at Heathrow. NATS has hit back at the claims, stating Ryanair’s “performance this summer cannot be blamed on UK traffic control”. ? Here’s what people are saying.
Mercedes-Benz will today unveil its electric SUV in Stockholm. The carmaker has previously said the Mercedes-Benz EQC will be equipped with a 70kWh battery pack for a range of up to 500km. It joins BMW and Volkswagen’s Audi and Porsche divisions in challenging Tesla’s dominance in the luxury electric-car market. The German automakers’ combined market share is expected to exceed Tesla’s in 2020 — reaching 11.8% before rising to 19% three years later. ? Here’s what people are saying.
The European Commission has a proposal for settling the beef dispute with the US. In a bid to halt mounting trade tensions, the Commission suggests redistributing the existing quota of hormone-free beef to ensure the US gets a larger share of Europe’s market. The existing agreement, from 2009, allows the US to export 45,000 tonnes per year, but that quota also includes other beef-exporting nations. The Commission proposes allocating a specific quota just for the US. ? Here’s what people are saying.
The European Medicines Agency has cut Britain out of contracts ahead of Brexit. The EMA has stopped appointing experts from the UK’s Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency, explaining that the long lead-time involved in assessing medicines means there’s no guarantee the experts would be able to see the review processes through. Existing contracts are being reallocated to EU members. The EMA has commenced its move to new headquarters in Amsterdam. ? Here’s what people are saying.
Turkey could be set to hike its interest rates. The central bank will meet next week after data released yesterday shows inflation has risen to 17.9% — its highest level in nearly 15 years. The country has been facing a currency crisis since the US imposed sanctions when Turkey refused to release an American pastor. The bank has until now refused to consider raising rates, despite the lira losing 40% of its value against the dollar since the beginning of the year. ? Here’s what people are saying.
Idea of the Day: Before a job interview, why not record yourself as you practice answering questions, then watch to learn how you respond, advises Korn Ferry CEO Gary Burnison.
“You need responses that are punchy, crisp, compelling, and to the point. One-word answers are a disaster, but so is a filibuster. Keep it conversational. You can always elaborate when the interviewer asks a follow-up question.”

6 年Ryanair used to be good but for the last 2 years they have seriously let down their customers. Once a company loses sight on who is paying the bills, then the future is dubious. Always put yourself in your customers shoes.
