RYAN SANDES TO TAKE ON MAXIRACE CAPE WINELANDS

South African trail running legend, Ryan Sandes, will be lining up at the start for the 75km race at next weekend’s Maxirace Cape Winelands taking place in Stellenbosch. After a very strange year of no racing, Sandes is looking forward to get in a race to finish the year on a high.

“After 3 years of planning and preparations, I was very disappointed that my Namibia project wasn’t able to be completed last month. I am looking forward to being able to run Maxirace Cape Winelands next weekend, it’s a race that has been on my bucket list,” says Sandes.

Ryan’s focus for 2021 is to put his Ultra Trail Mont Blanc (UTMB) bogey to bed and has spent many hours in the Franschhoek and Stellenbosch mountains training for this event, so tackling the 75km route was the perfect opportunity to not only boost his training, but to also get a race under his belt in this unprecedented year.

Ryan’s wife, model and actress, Vanessa Haywood-Sandes will be taking on the 20km route making Maxirace a family affair for the Sandes this December.

More than just a trail race, Maxi-Race Cape Winelands, takes you on an adventure, a journey of self-discovery amongst exquisite and unique landscapes. Regardless of your fitness level or your goals, there is an event for everyone. From the Maxi Race 75km to the Marathon 40km and finally the Short Race 20km, you can choose the right race which will push you to develop your mountain skills.
