The 6 Day Rwanda Memorial Site Tour presents to you Rwanda as a country gifted by nature and also known as the land of “a thousand hills” because of its natural beauty. Rwanda is also a home to the rare Mountain Gorillas and in this Itinerary, we will take you for a Gorilla tracking experience, Game drives in the parks as well as participate in cultural and community tours where you will learn the different cultures and historical ways of life of the people of Rwanda.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Kigali

• You will arrive at Kigali Airport where you will be met and greeted by your driver guide who will transfer you to the Hotel for a relaxed calm evening.

Day 2: Visit Ntarama, Nyamata Memorial churches & Kisozi Memorial museum

• After breakfast depart for Ntarama. Visit this church where more than 5000 people were killed in a church during the 1994 genocide, Proceed to Nyamata memorial site- another church where around 2,500 people were killed especially the barbaric killing of women. Travel time: 2 hours
• The Ntarama Genocide Memorial is 35 kilometers south of Kigali capital in Bugasera region, Learn more about the unity and reconciliation commission. At Nyamata church, there was mass rape, brutalization of women during genocide.
• Return to Kigali, have lunch and visit the Gisozi memorial museum. It is where the remains of 250, 000 victims of 1994 Genocide are buried. It contains a cemetery, genocide exhibition section, a library. Return to Hotel.

Day 3: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park

• After Breakfast, Visit the handcraft village, and Kimirongo local market. Transfer to Musanze, Volcanoes Park. Afternoon visit scenic twine lakes of Bulere and Ruhondo twin lakes These are beautiful lakes located close to the border with Uganda. They are surrounded by steep hills and large waterfalls with a backdrop of the Virunga volcanic mountains.

Day 4: Gorilla Tracking

• After early breakfast, transfer to the Volcanoes national Park gate to meet ef ranger guides and orientation on gorilla etiquette. You will be allocated a gorilla family to visit. The gorilla trekking activity can be physically engaging, often lasting between one to 8 hours. But finally seeing gorillas is a once in lifetime rewarding experience. Carry with you picnic lunch as well as sufficient water as the rain forest gets hot and humid during the day. Please note that It is helpful to bring good hiking boots, long trousers, gloves for protection against stinging nettles. You will spend one hour with the gorillas. After gorilla tracking, return to hotel.

Day 5: Golden monkey Tracking/community village experience and lake Kivu

• Today after breakfast, go for Golden monkey tracking (optional), or visit to community village for local experience (optional). Fantastic views, lush forested slopes and an exceptional environment. After transfer to Lake kivu.
