Rust Programming Language Breakthrough in 2020?

As this Newsletter covers AI, you cannot separate the future of artificial intelligence from the programming languages behind it. This is why we also cover software development trends in the industry.

Rust has certainly grabbed a lot of attention and headlines in 2019, but does it warrant it?

There’s been a lot of hype in 2019 about the programming language growth of Rust. Rust grew by 235% in the past year, according to GitHub. It’s open-source. It’s well loved by software developers.

Articles about Programming trends claim Rust will go mainstream 2020.

This open-source programming language, which is sponsored by Mozilla — of Firefox fame — is used in game engines, operating systems, virtual reality, and other systems-intensive tasks. But what makes it so convenient and well loved?

Rust was designed to be fast and more efficient with memory, with features that prevent developers from making common errors and introducing bugs. People claim Rust is a better C++ . Rust is a systems programming language meant to replace a lot of C and C++ development.

Why is Rust Loved so Much?

In 2019, only Dart grew faster than Rust according to Microsoft’s GitHub data. Certainly the Rust, Kotlin, and TypeScript communities are still growing fast. Programming and software are the ultimate marriage of old and new. Open-source and more platform specific programming languages.

Microsoft is even creating a new “Rust-like” programming language with Project Verona. Importantly for Rust, it was also crowned the “most loved” technology in StackOverflow’s 2016 developer survey (meaning it had the most users who wanted to keep using it).

With the momentum Rust has it could indeed go more mainstream in 2020.

Rust is growing fine, but I think developers need more intelligent integrated environment based on AI.??
