It’s taken a week for Vladimir Putin’s PR push of the last 20 years to be swept away.

New polling by?Morning Consult?reveals negative attitudes towards Russia are markedly higher across the UK, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Australia, the US, South Korea and Japan in the week ending 27 February compared to the week before.

Respondents were asked whether they had a favourable or unfavourable view of Russia. France and Italy experienced the biggest swings of negative opinion, with France going from 52% to 68% “unfavourable” and Italy from 50% to 69%.

The negative shift in the UK was the smallest of all nine countries, with “unfavourable” increasing from 71% to 77%, although the UK already had the highest “unfavourable” and lowest “favourable” attitudes towards Russia of any country surveyed.

The polling found that at least two-thirds of adults in the nine countries have unfavorable views of Russia following its invasion of Ukraine.
