Rushkoff's Meeting with Ultra Rich
Rushkoff has published his epic meeting with the tech billionaires again - one of the most viral articles of the decade. Look how much time and energy the ultra-rich invest in trying to secure their good future. But this time, there is nowhere to hide or escape our collective fate.
My Commentary -
#1 - Who Will Be Saved?
From this point forward we can start dividing people into two categories. The first category are people who only think of themselves. We all think about ourselves and that's perfectly natural. But really evolved people like Douglas Rushkoff and other leaders here on LinkedIn understand that we need to condition ourselves to be concerned for the collective. And like many of the comments on his post, the new era is all about community. So I'm not writing this for the billionaires who are in a world of their own, and not concerned with any of us at all - we're just a nuisance they need to get rid of if things get really bad. I'm writing this for the rest of us who are heading bravely into the new era together. Not hiding away in a fancy underground bunker with their families and guards, waiting for the rest of us to perish.
The second category are conscious individuals who are genuinely concerned about the collective. Some of them get very wealthy making things we'll need. but they really care about the well-being of all people. And we can spot these CEO's from a mile away. But as things escalate we see how the gap between these two groups is growing. That's because the human ego is growing and it amplifies whatever is going on with us. So the rich are becoming more paranoid and want to literally keep the world for themselves, if there's a huge disaster. And the rest of us are going through all kinds of emotional shifts as a result of all the changes around us and in our lives. The super rich probably think all this new well-being stuff is for weak people, and that we can solve all our problems with money.
If society is in balance then they won't need to worry about an apocalypse. That's what I'm always writing about and why I write this newsletter.
#2 - Only Escape for The Super-Rich
The only way the super-rich tech founders can save themselves is by saving all of us. As we can see from the questions they asked him, there are a lot of holes in their escape strategy. Bottom line - at this point, there is nowhere to escape. Instead of worrying about the pitchforks and mothers begging for food for their babies, they should be investing all their energy in finding a way to bring society back into balance. If society is in balance then they won't need to worry about an apocalypse. That's what I'm always writing about and why I write this newsletter.

#3 - Sweetening Our Relationship With Nature to Prevent Disasters
Whether we realize it or not, nature is pushing us to come to balance with it. And that means becoming an integral, harmonious part of the natural system, which necessitates the evolution of human society as a collective species around the planet. Gradually, nature is amplifying our sensitivity to our global interdependence, forcing us to recognize the human network that we are all part of, and transform our societies accordingly.
No technology can stop the laws of nature and no bunker can keep anyone unaffected by them. But, we can learn how to go along with the evolutionary pressure, rather than against it. We can learn to be better at being human, and then all this scary stuff will fade away. Even young Hollywood heartthrob Timothée Chalamet is talking about a 'societal collapse."
To avoid becoming victims of an aggressive breakdown of our current culture, we have to acknowledge and prepare ourselves for our inevitably connected future. People have to learn about the laws of nature and how they form an integral system, where every element depends on its balanced connection with the others and how it complements them.
But that’s the just the beginning of humanity’s transformation. It’s no coincidence that in the last few decades there is a growing body of research from multiple fields confirming that positive human connections make us smarter and better in every sense, as well as happier and healthier. Human beings will have to discover and activate their inherent wiring for connection by consciously practicing it.
The more we see that we are coming to balance with the laws of nature, and that will become our new source of fulfillment.
The more we practice our positive connections — personally, socially and globally — the more we see that we are coming to balance with the laws of nature, and that will become our new source of fulfillment.
The real issue is that the transformation of humanity will require a massive learning program around the planet, using our media and our technologies in new ways and for a new purpose. The irony is that precisely the people like those who met Rushkoff have all the means necessary to make this happen. What they lack is only the understanding that the only way to save themselves from “the event” is to save human society as well.
