Running your Business Like a F1 Winning Team

Running your Business Like a F1 Winning Team

Ready … Steady … Gooooooo ???????

Last week I had a thrilling lifetime experience when I got the chance to attend the 2022 Belgian Grand Prix F1 race at the Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps as our team made it & WON the Drive to Thrive Award across all EMEA Sales teams for FY22! ????

As a person that enjoys travel & going through new experiences I was super excited about traveling to Belgium & attending the race. However as a passionate footballer I had some doubts whether I’d really enjoy the race or not ???? I was never a F1 Fan (I didn’t even know who was Max Verstappen at that point in time ????) & I always had that perception that F1 is all about talented drivers that are riding super cool cars & the winner is the person that crosses the finish line first & that’s the perception that within the next lines I’ll be sharing with you how it completely changed after spending 3 days at the Circuit de Spa. ??????

The partnership between?Oracle?and?Red Bull Racing & Red Bull Technology?has enabled us to have a special access to the paddock area which houses the pit building, all F1 team’s motorhomes – including Oracle Red Bull Racing Energy station, the rear entrances to the garages and the thousand other things that a F1 race needs to function. ????

That wasn’t the only thing as we also had the exclusive?One-to-One interviews with Christian Horner OBE?, Max Verstappen (yes you read that right ????) , Sergio Pérez & I also got the chance to meet famous Belgium football player & one of the best in the world Kevin De Bruyne ??????

Now I’d like you to fasten your seat belt coz I’m about to take you for a ride to share how this unique & exclusive access has totally shifted my mindset & showed me what I’ve never imagined about F1 races:

1.????Team work ????

Christian Horner OBE’s?number 1 advice for success …

I was amazed to see the number of resources that were engaged directly within the race , I always had the perception that it’s all about the driver but when you enter the garage you can easily tell that having the driver crossing the finish line is just the final product of all these efforts & is actually a whole team crossing the line (you have to see their reaction when they all leave their places at the race end & run to the Podium to celebrate).

2.????Communication ??

What’s better that putting on the headsets that the Red Bull team is using & listening to the non stop communication between the Strategy team & the driver to make sure that the right actions are taken in the right time.

3.????Feedback Loop ?

I asked Max with all that huge team supporting you behind the scenes do you intervent in the details of their work or you just focus on driving the car & he directly said that we do share feedback together openly , it’s never personal & it’s for the sake of the team.

4.????Attention to Details ??

Another thing that amazed me when we entered the garage is the specialty & the level of details in which the team was giving attention to , one of the things I noticed that there were a couple of resources that were only responsible for wiping the car whenever it enters the garage , I didn’t really understand why is that so important , so I asked one of the engineers so told me that it has an impact on the aerodynamics of the car & hence can lead you to win or lose the race.

5.????It doesn’t really matter where you start , it’s all about where do you finish ??

Max started the race 14th?on the grid however, he finished the 1st

6.????Never celebrate until you cross the finish line ??

You must check last year’s story , when Lewis Hamilton & Max Verstappen were equal on points before the final race & on the last lap Hamilton was the one leading when Max managed to pass him , win the race & win the 2021 Formula One World Championship.

7.????Know when to stop ???

To pit or not to pit , that is the question ?

Sometimes you need to pause to equip yourself with the right tools & get recharged even if you’ll be delayed for few seconds but always remember that an arrow can only be shot by pulling it backward.

8.????Explore your field ??

Always make sure to understand the field you are racing on , warm up so that once the race starts you are ready & in full control of all your surroundings

9.????Right tools in the right time ???? ??

The tyres strategy was one of the most interesting stories that I listened to & my key takeaway here that there is no “one size fits all” sometimes your priority is speed other times it’s stability or maybe sustainability & hence you need to have the Right tools in the right time.

10.??Technology ???? ??

That’s the sweet spot , isn’t it ??

When you get closer you’ll be impressed with the crucial role that technology is playing in the F1 world & how Oracle technology has allowed Red Bull Racing to run billions of race simulations each weekend that helped them win races & how having the right tools helped them engage more with their fan base & create unmatched experiences for the Red Bull fans.

That’s why I can confidently say that the F1 has now added a new fan to its wide fan base after this race & that if you want to run a successful business you have to run it like a F1 Winning Team ??????

If you are a F1 fan already let me know what others points that interests you about F1 & can be added to the above list ? & if you are new to the F1 world just like myself let me know if the above clicks ? ??

Ready … Steady … Gooooooo????????
