Running 26.2 for Cancer Fighters

I am honored to be running the 2025 Boston Marathon on April 21st as a charity runner raising funds for the Joe Andruzzi Foundation. JAF has committed to helping patients of all ages with any cancer diagnosis throughout New England who are struggling financially due to their diagnosis. This includes supporting patients with household bills, transportation to treatment, assisting with food security, as well as providing wellness programs. JAF helps lighten the load of financial and emotional stress so patients can focus on what matters most during their treatment.
JAF is near and dear to my heart. I first joined Team JAF in 2019 with hopes of running the 2020 Boston Marathon in honor of my mom who was diagnosed with cancer in 2018. Although that finish line was taken away from me due to the pandemic, I was able to raise over $7000 for the foundation that year.
We lost my vibrant, selfless, and loving mom in August 2023 to this evil disease. I have seen firsthand how much a cancer diagnosis can take from a patient and their family and knew that I wanted to join Team JAF again in memory of my mom and in honor of all those diagnosed with and giving their all to battle this disease.
Hundreds of New England winter miles to go, 26.2 miles to run on April 21st, and $10,000 to raise – the least I can do for the patients and families supported by the Joe Andruzzi Foundation. If you’re able, please consider a donation to my fundraising efforts at the link below. Your support means so much to me, and them.
With Deep Appreciation,
Melissa Barber
