Runaway Dog!

Runaway Dog!

Several months ago a gentleman walked in my office, looking for all the world like a man down to his last penny. He mentioned that he needed money and cleaned windows, so I let him clean my windows. Well, every month he shows up exactly at the same time and washes my windows.

He came again last week, down to his last dime and asked if he could clean the windows at my house, so on Saturday, he and his nephew came out to clean my windows. They were quite the team. I hired them simply to clean my windows. They not only cleaned my windows, they also finished pressure washing my driveway, cleaned out my garage, down to lining up my shoes by the back door (did I mention they cleaned the windows inside and out?) And my house looks amazing!!

…...Anyway, so as the story goes, the window cleaner wanted me to come out and make sure everything was to my liking and I went out to check the garage and left the back door open and my Tink got out. And this pup is FAST! The more I called and yelled, the quicker she ran. So excited to be free of the leash and ready to run. Of course, I was wearing flip flops and as she started running, I started running so she ran faster. The window washer jumped in his car and took off after her. I ran back home (well, fast walked) and got in my car to find them all. God bless him, he found her and they both kind of cornered her until I got there so I could lure her with treats (which didn’t work, btw) Good thing I am fast too! Finally got her into the car and safely home!

I am sharing this story to say that he doesn’t have business cards (using my copy machine to make flyers), or a slick website, he doesn’t advertise or have a brand. From coming in my office to make a couple of bucks he got at least 3 jobs and more are coming. The reasons are simple.

  1. He asked for the job
  2. He consistently shows up each month
  3. He over delivers his service what he was hired to do (including helping me chase my dog though the neighborhood)

Sometimes we complicate things that are simple. We will uncomplicate things in your business at the Vision Board Retreat! Will you be in the room where it happened, January 15-17.
