Run Your Race with Patience: Lessons from Hebrews 12:1
"Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us.” - Hebrews 12:1 NLT
One of the ways envy manifests itself in your life is by constantly saying, "It's not fair." When you say this, you're essentially telling God that He messed up and should have made you different. This is not only disrespectful, but it also shows that you don't trust God to know what's best for you.
The truth is that God has given each of us a unique race to run. You can't run someone else's race, and they can't run yours. When you focus on God's plan for your life, you won't be distracted by what others are doing. Instead, you'll be able to trust that God has your best interest that He knows what's best for you.
Hebrews 12:1 reminds us to run our race with patience. It's important to understand your own calling so that you can focus on running the race that He has set before you. Don't waste your time comparing yourself to others. Be content with who God made you to be and trust that He has a plan for your life.
In your P4 group discussions, listen closely when your brothers bring up future plans so you can support their efforts to use their motivations to prepare them to take action that honors and aligns with God’s plan for their lives.
Lining up with where God wants to take you means you will be ready to go when He wants to send you.
