Run Time Theory
The Run Time Theory
?When I started running, often doing 6.2 miles, my speed was on average ten minutes per mile. Then I got better and could do an average of 8 minutes per mile. I was here for quite a while until I met a friend who was running a mile in 6 minutes. A few days later, I moved to running a mile in 7 minutes and promised myself I would not go back to 8. Today, after many runs, I can comfortably run a mile in 6 or 7 minutes.
No one starts anything perfectly. All we do at the start of something is garbage because we do not have the skill that comes with time. All great companies were at first start ups trying to figure out the problem they will solve. Children too will fall many times before they can learn to walk.
The run time theory states that mastery is a function of time and effort. The more time and effort you put into something, the more you will master it. Mastery is directly proportional to the market value.
Run time has three main benefits
1. You will get really good at the skill.

2. You will get to know what you want to focus on.
3. It will give you the credibility in the marketplace.
If you are a photographer, focus on the run time, take pictures at any opportunity. You will grow your photography skill, know where you want to specialize, get credibility and your value will grow over time. At the start, focus on the run time and not the price or how the marketplace values you.?
Focus on your run time and your value in the marketplace will grow. Start badly and poorly. How your start looks like is not how the end will look like. But you have to start.
