Run, Recover, Rest, Rinse, Repeat

Thank God it's Friday!

We have been on our different races all week, sometimes running as fast as we could and at other times taking a walking pace, but in every case, finding ways to move forward.

I love the weekends because they offer a chance for recovery and rest.

My Fridays and half of my Saturdays are for recovery. I reflect on the week, evaluate the things that went well, and consider the things I must improve on. My mind is still partially in work mode but without delivery demands.

The rest of the weekend goes to full rest mode.

The 3R practice is always on rinse and repeat every week, and with it, I've come into every Monday refreshed and ready to take on the new week's challenges.

In a fast-paced world, we need systems that help us show up in the best possible ways for the people and things we care about the most.

As with most of my life, finding simple and repeatable systems to help me with consistent execution, and with consistent execution comes a lifestyle.

I've seen this with my fitness, professional, and parenting practices.

If you've struggled to develop a good habit, you might want to consider creating a system that supports consistent execution.

Make your system simple, measurable, actionable, repeatable, and time-bound, and you will see yourself doing things you considered impossible without overthinking it. I shared more about this here.

Get your weekends working for your upcoming week by dedicating time for recovery and rest from your week-long running.

For fellow parents, I know finding time for yourselves on the weekends can be challenging, but with some intentionality, you'll find it.

At the beginning of developing this practice, I had to put things on my calendar to get reminders as I would for my work engagements. It helped me kick the practice off; now, it's second nature to engage in my recovery and rest routine without giving it much thought.

If we think it's worth it, we'll make it happen.

I know it's worth it, so I recommend it. You will find that it gives you 10X power going into every new week. Try it, and thank me later.
