Run the race that is set before you
On May 6, 1954, Roger Bannister?became an instant legend as the first man to run the one mile faster than four minutes. His time was 3:59.4. Roger Bannister's run that evening will always be remembered as a seminal moments in the world of sports. It has become a symbol of human achievement on the same level as the conquest of Mount Everest the previous year (May 29, 1953).
Since Roger Bannister ran the mile in under four minutes, how many people do you think have done this? If you said that many have done so, you would be correct. It took one man to believe that it could be done, train for it, prepare for it and do it and many, many others have now followed.
Once the record was broken, others believed. Others did it.
Roger Bannister didn't have anyone else to follow, he had to lead, he had to believe that it could be done. There was work involved in getting it done, he did the work (lots of it), then went out and ran the race of his life.

There are times in your life and career where you will have to lead, even though your job title doesn't say leader or manager. Where you will have to believe completely in yourself. Where you will have no one who has gone before you. Where you will have to build, train, practice, try and try again, then go out and just do it.
The race is run within you first. It's in your head. Use your wonderful imagination. Build, action, build, try, build, step out, build, do it.
Today, run the race that is set before you - do it your way. Stay the course and show everyone how it is done.
