Run NetSuite like you Drive a Tesla.

First of all, if you are reading this article, I'll assume you are already running NetSuite Entreprise Software.

If you are not running NetSuite, it's about time you start running your business like you mean it! And get a proper ERP like NetSuite.

As a NetSuite customer, you should be proud to learn that your company is running the world's greatest cloud ERP. I assure you I am not paid to say this.

NetSuite does brag a lot about how they are the #1 Cloud ERP, so I am not teaching you anything new at this point. Besides that catchy marketing slogan they use everywhere and 9 Billion dollars Oracle had to pay to acquire their technology, there are truly valid reasons why NetSuite can claim to the be the #1. I will not go through the complete list here, but among the strongest ones you'll find; agility, simplicity, affordable compared to other ERP with similar breadth of features, and finally, for me the most important, INTELLIGENCE.

I am not talking about intelligence in the sense of Business Intelligence, but in the sense of Intelligent Technology .

What does that mean? Just like a Tesla, NetSuite software continuously absorbs knowledge and uses creativity to solve simple problems at first, then grows to solve more and more complexe issues and challenges, while providing a myriad of new opportunities.

In the past few months my company OdeCloud, had been engaged in quite a few IT assessments. You go on-site, meet few Managers, meet the IT lead, talk to the Marketing and Sales folks, grab lunch with HR and attend daily 1:1 with CIO or/and CTO. A week after, you handover your deliverable; a nice slide deck with a bunch of conclusions and recommendations. As part of my latest assessments, I added the task: Ask for a NetSuite Admin login and count the customizations.

Dear NetSuite customer, do not affirm your Company runs NetSuite ERP until you've counted your customizations!!

If you do NOT see under customizations at least a dozen workflows and SuiteScripts, a few plugins, installed bundles and custom record types, and if most of your transactions forms still say "Standard", then I can assure you that your company is NOT running NetSuite. At this point it's almost like you are paying for a Tesla, a super powerful and intelligent car, but driving it like a Prius. If you've driven a Tesla, you'd understand what I mean. Another way to look at this is, for example using the latest MacBook Pro for the sole purpose of writing letters and printing them out. Something a basic typewriter could do. Although some vintage typewriters could be really expensive, but essentially you are using an extremely intelligent device at less than 20% of its capacity and paying 100% of its cost.

You are paying for a Tesla, a super powerful and intelligent car, but driving it like a Prius.

The good news is that you do have the Tesla of Entreprise Software, "NetSuite". Now, how do you learn to drive it like a Tesla? In other words, how do you learn to use NetSuite intelligently for your business? From my experience working with NetSuite customers post implementation, I can tell that most of you out there use a maximum of 20% of NetSuite capabilities, but pay for 100% of the license cost.
