Run 6.3 times the amount of K8S pods on the same amount of hardware.
With Higher energy costs being forecast in the near term. It is important for telco's and enterprises around the globe to ensure that their IT infrastructure runs at an optimum level to reduce costs, not just CAPEX but OPEX costs. Principled Technologies ran a test to find out the capacity of running K8S pods on Openshift (using baremetal servers) and vSphere on Tanzu. I was, personally amazed that vSphere on Tanzu was able to run 6.3 times the amount of PODS on the same hardware (HPE DL380 Gen 10 servers). The graphic was pulled from the report, so to clarify at best you could run 2500 pods using openshift and baremetal servers. Compare that to 13,700 pods on vSphere with Tanzu. Being conservative, that means 5 times less hardware (servers, Switches, storage, cables etc), 5 times less floorspace, 5 times less air con. Think what your company could do with the additional cash and hardware.
It's simply a no brainer.
