Ruminations About Calling & Purpose

I am back online after spending the last few weeks working behind the scenes with the incredible team at Join Momentum . We are building, strategizing, and laying the groundwork for something transformational for everyone within our network and ecosystem. It’s been a season of deep work, sharpening vision, and preparing for greater impact.

One thing that’s been reinforced in this season is that our calling is not confined to a pulpit, a title, or a specific setting. No matter where you find yourself; whether in a coffee shop, a factory, a classroom, or a boardroom, I want you to know that you are anointed and qualified for the work set before you.

The calling of God is not limited to Sundays or any other religious day of the week, nor is it reserved for a select few with religious titles. Our true calling (.i.e. ministry) happens in those daily moments; in the way we serve, lead, and impact lives in our spheres of influence.

For me, being a servant of God means using my gifts, talents, skills, and experience to serve humanity, not just in a church or religious setting, but wherever I am placed. The nuances of how we live out this calling depend on our context. On Sundays, it may look like worship and teaching, but on Monday mornings, it might be through leadership, decision-making, or simply showing integrity and kindness in the workplace.Many people see "ministry" as something reserved for Sundays, for those who hold religious titles, or for a select few who are "called" to a pulpit. But the truth is, if you are breathing, you are called. If you have gifts, talents, and skills, they are meant to serve a purpose far beyond a church building or a religious gathering.

This is where we must shift our perspective: Service is not about standing on a stage. It’s about the work we do, the value we create, and the lives we impact every day in, day out. The apostle Paul put it best in 1 Corinthians 9:21-22, where he speaks of becoming all things to all people so that he might win some. The essence of our calling is understanding that our service to humanity might take different forms depending on the context we find ourselves in.
