Camden Council has expressed approval of a recent First-tier Tribunal decision to enforce “essential remedial works” at a London apartment complex.
The ruling followed an investigation by the council and the London Fire Brigade at Princes Park Apartments, owned by Hazelwood Properties Limited.
The council’s Private Sector Housing Service raised fire safety concerns as early as June 2020. Despite assurances from the managing agents, no corrective actions were taken.
In October 2023, Camden Council issued Hazelwood an Improvement Notice, mandating “essential remedial works” on the building’s cladding and other fire safety issues to protect residents.
A month later, the property owners appealed against the notice, which the Tribunal ultimately denied, affirming that the council’s concerns were “reasonable and necessary to protect residents.”
The recent tribunal decision has sparked significant discussion in the fire safety sector.
