Rules for We, but Not for Thee, Finding Inner Peace in a Time of Strife, A Packer Bar, Teaching and Training Another Being

“Hello babies. Welcome to Earth. It’s hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It’s round and wet and crowded. On the outside, babies, you’ve got a hundred years here. There’s only one rule that I know of, babies-“God damn it, you’ve got to be kind.”

— Kurt Vonnegut Jr.

Well, it’s a fantastic morning; I’ve been up for 30 minutes, made coffee, let out the pup, we got our business complete, time for me to make some soup. I guess something I wrote the other day irritated some folks. Since I’m taking a social media holiday, I didn’t see the comments, but my Queen shared a couple. Another confirmation one cannot be Jesus Christ to everyone.

I’m not trying to please the masses for the record, just penning a few thoughts sharing my views and opinions on society’s ways and means. If my ideas trouble you, I’m sorry, just a man with ideas about life, liberty, and the pursuit of freedom. Freedoms are being reduced, and I think it something we need to discuss.

I can’t remember a time in my life when people were gladly giving up their rights. Many say follow the science, which I do. The science shows that we can reopen society; we can get back the thriving economy that was shuddered when we didn’t understand the impact of COVID. We now know this virus, who it targets, and who is safe. But that does not stop authorities from putting restrictions on those not in peril.

We spent our day free from COVID; we grabbed a table with some friends, sat outside, and watched the masses in their Green Bay Packer gear. One of our stops is a Packers Bar; the game is on every week, people dress up, we’re getting to know the locals, a great group of patriots.

My Queen just got up; she took the 2 a.m. Parker Van Halen session; I grabbed the 5:50 a.m.; it’s a team approach. We are learning how to manage a puppy; she’s training us as we try and teach her. So far, we’ve got sit and stay mastered, not bad for her first week. We’re going to hang a bell on the door and ring it each time we go outside; the idea is that she will begin hitting the bell when she wants to head out.

I’m working with my team today, talking about finishing the year strong, how we can add to our client base but still be choosy like those Jif mothers.  I’ve got times slotted for all my producers sans one; I’ll get him on the schedule today. We are looking at our CRM system to help begin tracking our new business flow. Like most software programs, we are using about 25% of its tools. It’s time to rachet up our utilization rate.

I’ve got a new client I’m working with, a referral, they have had some loss issues, but in reviewing their loss history, it seems some of their folly can be explained; I’ll take it to market this week and see if I can find a home. I’ll include a couple of other team members to help me get the heavy lifting complete; vision folks need detailed folk to help cross the finish line.

They start construction on our home today. Phase one will be grandkid bunk beds. We’re building out 5 in an alcove in our wing. We will have a large canvas tent opening made to give the kids their area. Moms and dads will sleep in the same room and have Queen beds close to their kids. We have made an executive decision to carpet all the bedrooms and use hardwood in the downstairs only. My Queen has a great eye; our Indy home allowed her to learn her craft; this will be her masterpiece.

It’s November; the election is tomorrow; we will have our kids join us on top of the mountain and watch the returns roll in.  If the polls are right, we will have a new President. If the polls are wrong, we will keep on keeping on.  Either way, we’ll be happy to know the direction and then modify our tax strategy to limit the amount of money we pay the thieves and crooks stealing our hard-earned cash.

We don’t mind paying taxes if the tax money was used effectively. But the waste and ineffectiveness of our government need some attention. We need to enact term limits until a group can figure out how to balance our budget. If we run our business like the government, we would be put in jail, rules for we, but not for thee.

If the media get this election wrong as they did in 2016, I wonder what kind of pushback will be applied to the lies and misinformation shared by those in the know. I’m starting to see some channels put out maps showing a path to victory for both candidates making sure to cover their ass.

No matter who wins, there will be violence; a local Indianapolis television station just encouraged downtown businesses to board up and prepare for riots.  They used the term riots, which is a little more accurate than peaceful protests. Thank God for insurance. Expect rates to click up in Urban areas due to the strife. Actions have consequences, and it seems unfair to punish a business owner for the whims of folks angry and an election outcome.

We are entering a time of darkness and dismay, a time where ideas and thoughts by some will be deemed inappropriate. The new thought police are forming, making sure you only get specific information; if it goes against the narrative, silence your mouth! How dare you say facts that hurt others feelings.

With all the crazy going on in our world, I’ve found inner peace. I’m not as wound up as I have been in the past. I think my social media temperance might have triggered my new found joy. Not drinking for 30 days seemed to allow for some additional clarity. I’m now forced to tend to another being’s needs, putting my needs on a shelf until her needs and wants are satisfied.

I trust these words resonate with you, that you did not waste 7 minutes of your day reading something that upset or angered you. I never intend to upset or make you angry, but it seems some folks have thin skin. Maybe my soup is made to help you toughen up, hearing things you disagree to open your mind. There is a lot of misinformation and suppressed stories that show a different world than maybe you are aware. The reports can be found on Youtube; a new media is being formed as I write these words; few now follow the evening news, leaning on news aggregators to compile their information. It’s a brand new world, and I’m leaning in even when I know violence and strife are happing this very week. Be safe; keep your ideas and thoughts to yourself unless they align with the new orthodox. Rules for we, but not for thee.
