Multi alignment producing hedging strategies and jury-rigging institutions to preserve benefits of current system seems to be the direction moving forward. Challenge for the U.S. will be how to consolidate its core allies while accepting that many of the rising powers will seek tiered association, not full integration. This is going to require a new generation of policymakers who are more adept at maneuvering in a polycentric world order rather than thinking primacy is the default setting.
