Rule #16: First Impressions Deliver Outsize Impacts
First impressions are long lasting.?
Research has?shown?that initial perceptions of someone can last for months, even if the observer receives evidence that conflicts with that first impression.?
This week's guest, Noelle Kim, speaks about her long career of making amazing first impressions while in coveted positions at Nestle, Google, Instagram and WhatsApp. She also tells us about a misjudgment when she first started at Facebook that left an awful first impression that she needed to repair.
I'm actually working on a new book (due out at the end of the year) that covers turning the first impression into an unforgettable experience. Specifically, the book shares how B2B pitches can connect to the prospect on an emotional level and create a tie-breaker gut feeling.
My new book explains the neuroscience behind why many of Noelle's tactics were so effective and creates a simple framework for the rest of us to follow in her footsteps.
If you have any interest in being a beta reader for the book, just let me know in the comments or by email!
