The search for great game changing industry leaders is one that should embrace lots of Organisation Development considerations. Creativity and Innovation are industry drivers that, many times, dont sit on structured resources and environment. Organisations have to choose to be decently chaotic to find out the potential that these two hold.

There will always be the unstructured leader who has a powerful capability to rally people to a great cause competing against a very organized manager with outstanding abilities to implement processes and ensure compliance…..

It’s a tricky choice that organisations have to make while recruiting leaders….the choice of whether to address the current or the future.

The more important choices often are how to build structures that would provide confidence in the choices to be made… and this is where Organisational Development Experts should advise. Unfortunately, Organization Development are never recruiters and not all recruiters may sufficiently apply Organisational Development considerations of this context.

"I am recruiting a highly dynamic and creative Director (but slightly less structured and procedural) for an organization based on the kind of market dynamics that the company envisages in the future. I should therefore seek to build capabilities in the next level that support the Director with administrative and due diligence issues as development initiatives are implemented to address the gaps”.

Many organisations will lose on the opportunity to energetically steer innovations. Game changers are unconventional job seekers – people that have glaring ordinary gaps and that have made serious mistakes before but are deeply conceptual and adventurous on things that matter for any business.
