Rugby World Cup starts

Today is the day - Rugby World Cup France 2023 finally starts. We have seven weeks of top-class sport ahead of us and right at the opening there is the top duel in front of 80,000 spectators in Paris tonight between the hosts and title aspirants France and the record world champions from New Zealand - the All Blacks, known above all for the Haka.

Rugby always looks brutal from the outside. But it is not described as the "game for hooligans, played by gentlemen" for nothing. Clear rules that apply to everyone, referee decisions that are accepted without discussion, and the certainty that a team with very good individualists doesn't stand a chance against a team in which everyone pursues a common goal, pulls together, and supports and pushes each other.

And what do we do after the game? First of all, we thank the referee and the opponent for being there, because without them we could not play this wonderful game. And afterwards we celebrate together that we gave everything and experienced fantastic 2 x 40 minutes.

Even if hardly anyone notices, but also here in Germany and also in Dresden rugby is played and the young people with a lot of initiative and volunteering not only the rules and procedures of the game brought closer, but also the values - team spirit, fairness, respect, cosmopolitanism and much more.
