The Ruby Gems - out there doing good!

On March 20th the Ruby Gems, myself, and three fearless walkers and friends will set off on this years Oxfam Trailwalker 50 kilometre walk through the beautiful Taranaki, raising money for Oxfam and those who really need it.

Excited and nervous is definitely how we are feeling, the training walks are a great way to talk, listen and be there for your teammates. The hips, knees, and ankles get sore, especially as we head into more serious training distances of 30 kilometers, but if that is the worst of our problems then I’m ok with that. To have a challenge outside the day-to-day pressures of work and family life as we all head back to the office and school has been a great way to keep some mental focus and fitness during another of New Zealand’s wonderful summers.
